Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable news stories throughout the years, such as budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
